To create stronger capability and capacity of epidemiologists in supporting disease outbreak investigations, analysing surveillance data, conducting field research, and providing practical recommendations to decision makers, FAO Indonesia organized a Stakeholders Meeting on Field Epidemiology Program for Veterinarians Indonesia (Program Epidemiologi Lapangan Veteriner Indonesia - PELVI) on 3-4 December 2018.

PELVI established in 2017 with aim to strengthen the capacity of veterinarians in Indonesia. The meeting held to inform stakeholders the progress of the program, and to discuss the next course of actions to bring forward. ALERTAsia Foundation invited to attend the meeting as it has been strongly support the program since its early phase. Supported by US-CDC, ALERTAsia Foundation has collaborated with FAO Indonesia and Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture in developing four training modules as well as providing scholarship for five selected participants to start PELVI master degree course at Gadjah Mada University.
