Responding to tsunami and earthquake that hit Central Sulawesi in September 2018, ALERTAsia assisted the Ministryof Health in deploying 23 FETP students to Central Sulawesi to conduct early detection surveillance from 12 October - 20 November 2018. The team deployed into three batches to the public health centers at the surrounding affected areas in Palu, Donggala, and Sigi District as follows:
  • Batch 1: 10 students deployed on 12 - 26 October 2018
  • Batch 2: 9 students deployed on 23 October - 7 November 2018
  • Batch 3: 4 students deployed on 6 - 20 November 2018   
Besides conducting surveillance, the team also assisted Public Health Officers in training the local health workers using early detection warning surveillance mobile application.

On 23 - 26 October 2018, the Executive Director and Operation Manager of ALERTAsia also conducted site visit to three affected districts and monitor the activities of early detection surveillance team.
