To improve the capability of surveillance officers and health workers in detecting potential outbreaks using Early Warning Response System (EWARS), ALERTAsia assisted FETP Indonesia Secretariat in organizing Workshop on web-based EWARS from 13 to 20 February 2019 in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The workshop was conducted in two batches: the first batch was conducted on 13 – 15 February 2019 at the district level; and the second batch was conducted on 18 – 20 February 2019 at the Health Center level. This workshop is organized to help surveillance officers in conducting assessment independently using the web-based recovery surveillance system and to facilitate them in acquiring professional competencies in epidemiology i.e Early Warning Response System (EWARS).

Attended by twenty six health officers and workers from thirteen districts in Central Sulawesi, after completing the training these health officers and workers are expected to be able to: (i) produce regular EWARS report as dissemination material and feedback; (ii) assist the surveillance officers at the health centers in submitting report and response; (iii) improve the program coordination in responding to cases based on EWARS information, including clarifies data that is considered unusual to relevant health centers. These capabilities are expected to be improved up to 90% from the officers' current performance.
