Irwan Julianto is a former senior journalist of KOMPAS Morning Daily, Jakarta, Indonesia, specializing in public health and science. He earned a Master of Public Health from Harvard University, Boston, under a scholarship from, Ford Foundation due to his involvement in establishing series of trainings on AIDS and his compassion and dedication in journalism. In Harvard, he received Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Essay Award for Health and Human Rights from the late Prof. Jonathan Mann for his essay on street children and their vulnerability towards HIV/AIDS. He is now also a member of the National Commission on Ethics of Health Research. Mr. Julianto joined ALERTAsia Supervisory Board in 2008.
