Stronger Epidemiological Workforce for Improved Public Health Surveillance and Practice

In 2018, ALERTAsia Foundation supported a flagship program of the WHO South East Asia Region on measles elimination and rubella control targeted by 2020. In achieving this goal, the government of Indonesia have planned for two phased of catch up supplementary immunization activity in 2017 and 2018. The first phase was targeting 35 million children was completed in 2017 and the second phase targeting 32 million children to close the immunity gap for measles and rubella in the children of age 9  months to < 15 years.

To support this national program, ALERTAsia Foundation together with the Ministry of Health and WHO employed 10 national consultants to give technical assistance to several 31 districts in North Sumatera and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam to monitor the MR immunization campaign and identify whether it has successfully reached 95% coverage at all levels, and to strengthen routine immunization and surveillance of vaccine preventable diseases.
This project operated under the GHS project as one of  its key activity in 2018.
